Barney obtained a first-class honours degree in history from the University of Bristol, and completed a master’s degree in journalism at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where he achieved a distinction. 

Before joining Caytons, Barney worked in the House of Commons as a policy assistant. He obtained a distinction in both the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law. 

Barney’s main role is to provide support for the legal team at Caytons in the defence of professional negligence claims. This is predominantly in relation to claims against solicitors and construction professionals.
