Angela is a Partner and specialises in construction, professional indemnity defence and coverage instructions. Angela has worked on several high-profile defence instructions arising from the Grenfell tragedy, including acting for designers, consultants and contractors. Angela is also experienced in acting for various construction professionals in complex and multi-party claims relating to alleged defective structural, M&E and architectural design of hospitals, multi-use developments, theatres and educational buildings. Angela deals with claims brought via the courts, arbitration or adjudication and has successfully challenged jurisdiction in a high quantum adjudication. Angela is well-versed in resolving claims at mediation. As to quantum, Angela has acted as primary fee-earner on several high quantum claims (c.£5-20million). Angela is used to dealing with market claims and with insureds with large, self-insured excesses.

As to coverage, Angela has been instructed to advise insurers on all issues of policy coverage. Notable coverage instructions include advising on the application of policy endorsement wording to a £15million claim, year of attachment in relation to a c.£25+m complex claim, acting for insurers in the successful avoidance of a policy due to the insured’s non-disclosure, and negotiations as to settlements regarding the insured’s indemnity in relation to claims with a quantum of more than £70m. Angela is experienced in acting for primary, 1st, 2nd and 3rd excess insurers in relation to coverage, and in acting for insurers on market instructions. 

Angela is also experienced and regularly instructed in professional indemnity matters pertaining to other professions including accountants and financial advisors.
