About Steven O’Sullivan
Steven is a highly experienced insurance litigation solicitor, having extensive experience in professional liability, but also in property, coverage and general public liability.
Steven joined Caytons in 2025 from DWF, where he spent 15 years, most recently working on a mix of property, coverage and liability work, including some professional indemnity, product liability, food safety, international work (including Bermuda form), D&O and fraud. At Caytons, his caseload consists of a mix of professional indemnity claims, which moves him back towards his work prior to his time at DWF, when he spent some years in-house with Zurich Professional and Financial Lines notably working on solicitors’ claims. Steven’s experience includes advising and assisting on eight-figure claims, but he also understands the challenges of advising on claims where smaller numbers are at stake.
Unlike many solicitors working in the insurance field, Steven trained and worked when newly qualified at a High Street firm and has tried to keep his more generalist experience alive by volunteering at a law centre, for over 20 years. With his significant time spent working in-house with claims, Steven understands insurers’ priorities in wanting to resolve claims fairly, efficiently, and at a sensible cost, without over-paying or rewarding those that pursue unmeritorious claims.
Steven has had a number of articles published in the New Law Journal and he authored a number of pre-action protocol precedent letters for LexisNexis.
